Chapter 22: "Absoludicrous"

Chapter Summary:

In the millennial day all men will praise the Lord--He will dwell among them--Compare Isaiah 12. About 559–545 B.C.

God seems to be the most insecure being in the universe. This whole chapter (a whopping 6 verses) claims that when the advocate for the poor arrives as described in the previous chapter, the whole earth will be convinced of god's awesomeness and sing praises to god.

This is ludicrous. Why would an omnipotent being give a monkey's flying crap about some mere mortals thinking highly of him? He's omnipotent. He is, by definition, awesome to the highest order of magnitude. No amount of praise, or for that matter, disparagement, could possibly affect the amount of awesome god allegedly possesses. Why does he seem so fixated on praise?

Perhaps the incessant, unnecessary praise is to convince believers that their tribal war-god is better than the tribal war-gods of competing marauding Palestinian tribes. After all, the more a lie is repeated, the more likely it is to be believed by the credulous.
